Course Information:

The Strength Training I course is designed to provide physical workouts that focus on strength training. The course will also include cardio-vascular concepts, power and explosive training, lateral quickness, and flexibility. The students will learn to train their body and design a fitness plan that is reflective of the activities they are interested in. The course will be focused around the fitness center and the weight room.

Outcomes:

  • Identify muscle groups and basic functions

  • Identify movements or lifts that train muscle groups

  • Develop long-term and short-term goals focused on personal fitness

  • Recognize the importance of balancing strength training with other movement training

  • Practice proper and safe weight lifting techniques

  • Identify physical fitness components

  • Design and implement a fitness plan based on personal fitness scores

  • Understand the role that nutrition plays in the process of strength training
