A message from the Principal
We look forward to welcoming all of our new and returning students back to Delavan-Darien High School to begin the 2020-21 academic year. I am Jim Karedes, serving as the Comet proud principal of The Delavan-Darien High School. This new year brings with it many new challenges, both different and exciting, yet similar to and quite different from any other year. The 2020-21 academic year will serve as my 8th year in the Delavan-Darien School District and my 24th year in education. I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and my Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I am here to proudly serve the Delavan-Darien community, support the incredible high school staff and guide our students to be prepared for their endeavors during and beyond high school.
Delavan-Darien High School is a member of the Southern Lakes Conference, affording students a multitude of opportunities including various sports, a multitude of plays, professional theatrical performances, and a myriad of clubs to enhance our students sense of belonging. Academically we offer Advanced Placement courses to all levels of students (grades 9 through 12) that provides our students the opportunity to earn college credit prior to leaving high school. We boast a plethora of staff at DDHS that have accelerated and connected their courses to allow our students to earn transcripted college credit with Gateway Technical College. Simply put, Delavan-Darien High School is well-equipped to provide, support and prepare our students for careers and college preparations in a global economy.
On a personal note, my wife Anne and I are both employed by the Delavan-Darien School District to support all learners. We have two boys in middle school and we are huge supporters of the Wisconsin Badgers, along with enjoying time coaching and supporting basketball, football and lacrosse.
