Course Information:

Students will demonstrate knowledge in computer hardware, software, and the operating system. Students will learn the most effective ways to search the web, research cyberspace careers, create an e-resume, compose and send email messages with attachments. Students will examine different computer systems, including the popularity of the smartphone and learn about online safety. Students will also evaluate websites, identify the elements of a quality web page, and develop their own web pages using HTML tags and Dreamweaver. Students will explore Web 2.0 tools.


Students will:

  • Identify Internet safety issues and procedures

  • Describe the evolution of the Internet and how it works

  • Investigate current and future trends in information technology

  • Examine social, ethical, and legal issues associated with information technology

  • Debate an ethical issue related to using computer and Internet technology

  • Explore the types and features of various Web browsers

  • Describe the concept of IP addresses and the Domain Name System (DNS)

  • Create Web pages using HTML code and Dreamweaver.
