Darien had some random Starbucks winners this morning! Ask your student what he/she is saving up for! Yesterday a couple of third grade boys 'bought' lunch with the Principal! It was the best lunch time I've had in a while!
Today in our Second Step lesson we learned the calm down steps: 1.) Stop- use your signal, 2.) Name your Feeling, & 3.) Calm down : belly-breathe, count, & use positive self-talk. Ask your student if they remember the Calm it down song & dance!
Today we had Sgt. Tom Rich from the New Jersey police department here to talk to our students about being safe when they are online, whether it is on a phone, tablet, or other device. He encouraged every student to speak with their parent about the presentation tonight. Please talk with your child about this wonderful event!
Fourth grade students participated in a MLK project while in Mrs. Cardelli’s Social Studies class recently. They are learning so many important lessons each day!

Mr. Kanoff likes hockey, soccer and watching movies. He works at CLC after school too. If he could go anywhere, it would be Disney World. He and his wife also welcomed their first child on Christmas Day! Thanks for all you do, Mr. Kanoff!
Third grade scientist were working on the lesson objective involving the variables of a pendulum, patterns of motion back and forth. .

Report cards will be sent home with your child this afternoon. Please review the report with your child. Keep the report card, but please sign and return the envelope so we can reuse it next trimester. If you have any questions regarding the report, please reach out to your child's teacher(s).

The second choice has changed. It will NOT be a Turkey BLT wrap. Instead it will be a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.

Reminder...Tuesday, December 17th is Darien's Winter Sing/Honor Choir/Orchestra Concert at Phoenix Middle School. Everyone is working hard and we are all excited to share with our amazing efforts! All students will be performing the "Nutcracker Suite" Mini-Musical for our Winter Sing. Details of when to arrive and what to wear are below.
Here is the schedule for the evening all at Phoenix Middle School:
5:00pm 3rd grade/Bridge families drop off in Cafeteria, 5:30pm 3rd grade/Bridge students perform in Phoenix Middle School (PXMS) Auditorium
5:45pm 4th grade Honor Choir families drop off in Cafeteria, 6:15pm Honor Choir in PXMS Auditorium
6:15pm 4th grade families drop off in Cafeteria, 6:45pm 4th grade in PXMS Auditorium
Orchestra students: drop off their instruments in cases with music and place them on the chair/by the chair where you see your name in the Gymnasium before your Honor Choir/Winter Sing performances, 7:30pm 4th grade Orchestra in PXMS Gymnasium
What to wear? Please wear dress clothes: for example, girls a holiday dress or nice pants and sweater, nice dress shoes. Boys: slacks with button down shirt & tie or sweater, nice dress shoes.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Darien student and staff are supporting two staff who are fighting cancer by wearing Pink on Thursday, Oct. 10th. Students are encouraged to participate as well. Don’t have a pink shirt to wear? How about socks or shoes? Please do but send hats as students are not to wear hats at school.
