DDHS U.S. Presidential Scholars Program State-Level Nominee

DDHS is proud to announce that senior student, Annabella Schluneger, is one of twenty state-level nominees for the national U.S. Presidential Scholars Program!  Annabella qualified by nomination of the Wisconsin State Superintendent, Jill Underly, for outstanding scholarship while overcoming hurdles or challenges.

Annabella's next steps are to complete the next level application, where a review committee of qualified individuals experiences in secondary and post-secondary educational will evaluate all applications based on their academic achievement, personal characteristics, leadership and service activities, and an analysis of their essay.  Approximately 650 candidates will be named semifinalists and those names will then be sent to the Commission for further review.  In April, the Commission on Presidential Scholars will review the applications of all semifinalists based on the same criteria used by the review committee.  The Commission will select up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars at that point.  All scholars are honored for their accomplishments during the online National Recognition Program.  U.S. Presidential Scholars are awarded the U.S. Presidential Scholars medallion each June.
