DDHS Students Tour George Williams College

On Tuesday, November 12, Mrs. Salamone and some DDHS students toured George Williams College on the banks of Lake Geneva in Williams Bay, WI.  George Williams College is part of Aurora University, a private, fully accredited university in Illinois.  George Williams offers 4-year university programs with majors in Psychology, Nursing (direct entry), and Social Work (including a Masters Degree).  About 350 students attend the small campus, the buildings are beautiful and the dorm rooms are large and feature personal bathrooms.  The main campus in Aurora Illinois has over 50 majors with an 18:1 student to faculty ratio.

Our small group of students looked at the Nursing, Psychology and Social Work programs.  They learned that George Williams offers full-ride scholarships to DDHS students along with merit scholarships based on GPA and ACT.  The cost of George Williams and Aurora University is $24,260.  Here is the net price calculator for GW showing their merit scholarships https://gwc.aurora.edu/admission/financial-aid/calculator/first-year-student-calculator.html

Students with a 3.4 GPA and 27 ACT or 3.8 with a 26 ACT qualify for $15,000 in merit scholarships that are renewable for 4 years.  Wisconsin residents also receive a $3,000 tuition break for the college.  For some students, George Williams has a lower tuition cost than UW-Whitewater.  There are many other scholarship and loan forgiveness programs for students.  There are also area businesses that will assist in tuition and provide sign-on bonuses for graduates.
