Turtle Creek Elementary School proudly announces the appointment of Shawn Waller as the new principal for the 2024-2025 academic year. Mr. Waller brings a wealth of experience from his current role as Principal at Big Bend Elementary School in Mukwonago, WI, where he has served since 2010.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1999, Shawn Waller began his career in education teaching 8th grade in Janesville, WI, where he also coached football, basketball, tennis, and swimming. His leadership skills soon led him to a role as Dean of Students in the Salem School District in 2007, and he became an Elementary Principal the following year. His dedication and effective leadership at Big Bend Elementary have prepared him well for his new role at Turtle Creek.
Mr. Waller is passionate about creating supportive educational environments that cultivate safety and care alongside academic rigor. He has been instrumental in implementing initiatives aimed at reducing bullying and promoting positive behavior through the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. His leadership philosophy focuses on making a significant, positive impact daily on the students and staff he works with.
Outside of his professional life, Shawn enjoys traveling to sunny destinations, attending live sports events, and participating in outdoor music festivals. He is an enthusiastic supporter of family activities, including boating on Lake Wisconsin with his sons Jalen (17), Tarek (14) and fiance Nikki.
