The Delavan-Darien School District’s Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection of Drew Halbesma as the District’s next Superintendent. Following an extensive search process, Halbesma was chosen for his exceptional leadership qualities, dedication to education, and commitment to student success. 

With over 22 years of experience in education, Halbesma brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. His proven track record of fostering positive relationships within the community, implementing innovative educational strategies, and advocating for student-centered initiatives made him the ideal candidate for this position. For the last two years, Halbesma has been the Superintendent for the Genoa City J2 School District. Before that, he spent the last 6 years as the Principal and Director of Teaching & Learning at the Wheatland J1 School District. Prior to that he served as an Assistant Principal and Principal at both LGMS and Eastview Elementary School within the Lake Geneva J1 School District. At the start of his career, he was a coach, an 8th grade and 5th grade teacher in the Burlington Area School District.

Halbesma expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to serve as Superintendent, stating, "I am honored and excited to join the Delavan-Darien School District family, it was great to meet many staff and community members during the interview process, which solidified my anticipation to join the Comet team. I look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure every student receives a high-quality education and has the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally." 
 
As Superintendent, Halbesma will work closely with the Board of Education, District leadership team, and community stakeholders to advance the District's strategic goals, enhance student achievement, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
