Course Information:
The Individual Activities course is designed to provide students with necessary skills to live a healthy lifestyle. The fitness components will be the focus of the course. Students will participate in activities that will offer experience in the various aspects of personal fitness. This course will allow students to compete through individual sport. The course will include the following activities: tennis, badminton, archery, pickle ball, power walking, running, indoor rock climbing, disc golf, biking, circuit training, table tennis, lap-swimming, iDance and cardiovascular fitness training.
Outcomes:
Exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity
Achieve and maintain a health enhancing level of physical fitness while participating in individual activities
Value physical activity for health, enjoyment, self-expression, and/or social interaction
Understand that leading an active lifestyle will help improve longevity and overall mental, social and physical well-being
Apply a variety of movement concepts, principals, strategies and tactics while participating in individual activities
Demonstrate safe behaviors while participating in individual activities
Understand that participation in lifetime activities will affect the: benefits of exercise, muscle building process, weight loss/gain process, long term and short term effects of fitness training, increasing cardiovascular fitness, effect of fitness training on the body both physically and mentally
Demonstrate that exposure to a variety of activities will provide opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interactions
Demonstrate responsible personal and social engagement that promotes success during individual activities

Display knowledge of the use of pedometer, heart rate monitors, and other fitness assessment tools
Assess personal fitness and set fitness goals for the semester by analyzing current fitness performance results.
Students will aim for improving cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance/strength, nutrition and body composition
