Course Information:

The History of Rock n’ Roll is a non-performance music course that explores the development of Rock n’ Roll from the early 20th century through the present. Students will explore genres such as the blues, jazz, country, early Rock n’ Roll, R&B and Motown, psychedelic rock, hard rock, disco, punk, new wave, hip/hop and rap, metal, alternative rock, electronica, and current Rock trends by listening to musical selections and viewing videos of performances and biographical films. Students will complete listening journals and research projects on artists from the genres studied.

  • Explore the lives of artists from various genres of Rock n’ Roll
  • Write about and critique music from different genres of Rock n’ Roll
