Middle School Programs
Students at Phoenix Middle School have a host of extra-curricular activities available to them, from sports teams to a student newspaper. There’s even a Boys and Girls Club located right inside our building!
We feel learning occurs not only in the classroom, but outside of it, as well. We encourage all students to join a club, play a sport or be a part of something that goes beyond the school’s minimal requirements.
Involved students get to explore their physical, creative, social, political, and career interests with like-minded people. They also make new friends, get to try something new or different and come in contact with people they maybe didn’t know shared similar interests and curiosities.
In our diverse school environment, extra-curricular programs also bring students together and break down the barriers that may exist between them. We love it when we see students of different backgrounds learning and participating together.
Perhaps most importantly, joining a club or team gives our students something better to do than being bored! Students who are involved and engaged are less likely to become addicted to bad habits and they have shown to perform better in the classroom, too.
We’re always looking to add new activities as time, space, staffing and funding allow. Below is a list of activities currently offered at Phoenix Middle School:
- Destination Imagination
- Fab Lab
- Music (band, jazz band, choir, orchestra)
- National Junior Honor Society
- Peer Helpers
- Phoenix Middle School Forensics
- ‘Phoenix Rising’ Student Newspaper
- Student Council
