Precision Plus in Elkhorn is celebrating Manufacturing Day, Saturday, Oct. 7th by opening its doors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to showcase the exciting career opportunities in modern manufacturing.

“I do not need to explain why this is important to you, but clearly the skills gap is real and outdated perceptions of manufacturing continue to divert young adults toward other career paths,” said company President Michael Reader, a DDHS graduate. “Often they rack up substantial student loan debt in the quest to get a degree, regardless of cost or perceived benefit of such.  All this while, hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs go unfilled for lack of interested candidates, much less skilled candidates.”

Changing these outdated perceptions continues to be Reader’s personal mission.  Why? Because the question of “how do we attract and develop the next generation of manufacturing professionals” is the No. 1 threat to Reader’s business, his industry and perhaps the country’s national security, he said.

The Precision Machined Products Association sponsored a video campaign, which featured Reader and his company, to address this threat. Watch at:

“I invite you to join us in this celebration where you can meet our team and engaged community members,” Reader said. “High-paying careers and fostering growth in these industries should not be a partisan issue, but an American effort everyone can get behind.  I would be delighted if you can join all of us in this celebration of the American worker.
