Darien Elementary School students were treated Friday, May 12, to a presentation and demonstration by the Door County Sled Dogs, a non-profit organization the students supported with a “penny war” fundraiser at the school earlier this spring.

The students raised $1,218 for the organization, which provides educational outreach and leadership training to schools through the use of rescue sled dogs.

The top student givers and classroom fundraiser were recognized at the all-school assembly.

The top giving students were:

  • Christian Sierra
  • Sebastian Duran
  • Xavier Arizola

The parents of these students verified they gave more than $50 of their own money! Wow!
