Ready, Set, Go: Child Development Screenings

The Delavan-Darien School District is holding free Child Development Screenings for area children age 0-4 on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Screenings will be held from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and again from 2-5 p.m. at Wileman Elementary School, 1001 E. Geneva St., Delavan. Walk-in appointments are available during those hours.

Shopko Foundation Awards $1,500 in Grants for Phy Ed

Thanks goes out to Shopko for awarding a $1,000 grant and two $500 grants to support our Phy Ed courses! The grants were submitted by Sandee Ortiz, Shelly Misco, and Tom Kanoff and were awarded recently for DDHS and Turtle Creek.

Delavan-Darien Authorizes $3.5 Million Operating Referendum for April 3 Ballot

On January 8, the Delavan-Darien Board of Education unanimously authorized an operating referendum for community vote.  If approved, the April 3 referendum would provide $500,000 per year for three years (2018/19 - 2020/21) for academic and vocational classroom improvements, upgrades for culinary arts and auto programs, and improvements to Borg Memorial Stadium including artificial turf for football and soccer; and $3 million per year on a recurring basis (2018/19 and thereafter), for operating costs to maintain the District’s current educational programs.

Phoenix Career Fair is March 14, 2018. Volunteers needed!

Phoenix Middle School is hosting a Career Expo Fair for the Phoenix Middle School students (6th-8th Grade) from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 14.  Volunteer guests are needed at the Career Expo Fair and will provide expertise to help middle school students have a better understanding of their career goals and pathways. Fire Alarms/Evacuation at DDHS - 1-17-18, 9:55 a.m.

ALL STUDENTS/STAFF ARE SAFE: Students and staff at DDHS were evacuated from the building about 9:37 a.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 17 2018, for an activated fire alarm.  The city of Delavan fire department arrived on scene within minutes. Fire crews have determined it was a faulty detector in the ductwork near the pool area. School operations are resuming again as normal. All students and staff are safe. Students were allowed back into the building about 9:52 a.m. All students are safe and accounted for, and will continue on with their school day.
