Ready, Set, Go: Child Development Screenings

The Delavan-Darien School District is holding free Child Development Screenings for area children age 0-4 on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Screenings will be held from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and again from 2-5 p.m. at Wileman Elementary School, 1001 E. Geneva St., Delavan. Walk-in appointments are available during those hours. IN PICS: Wax Museum of Reading 2018

Darien Elementary fifth graders came to life as characters from their favorite books in the annual 2018 Wax Museum of Reading Event! The event is a fundraiser for the class trip to a springtime Milwaukee Brewers game. The event was held over two days and featured students from all fifth grade classes at Darien. Delavan-Darien Authorizes $3.5 Million Operating Referendum for April 3 Ballot

On January 8, the Delavan-Darien Board of Education unanimously authorized an operating referendum for community vote.  If approved, the April 3 referendum would provide $500,000 per year for three years (2018/19 – 2020/21) for academic and vocational classroom improvements, upgrades for culinary arts and auto programs, and improvements to Borg Memorial Stadium including artificial turf for football and soccer; and $3 million per year on a recurring basis (2018/19 and thereafter), for operating costs to maintain the District’s current educational programs. Fire Alarms/Evacuation at DDHS – 1-17-18, 9:55 a.m.

ALL STUDENTS/STAFF ARE SAFE: Students and staff at DDHS were evacuated from the building about 9:37 a.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 17 2018, for an activated fire alarm. 

The city of Delavan fire department arrived on scene within minutes. Fire crews have determined it was a faulty detector in the ductwork near the pool area. School operations are resuming again as normal. All students and staff are safe.

Students were allowed back into the building about 9:52 a.m.
