Three from DD selected for 2017 Southern Lakes Anthology
Three Delavan-Darien students — Rylie Vorpagel, grade 3; Annabella Schluneger, Grade 6; and Sylvia Elliott, Grade 8 — have their creative works published in the 2016-2017 Southern Lakes Anthology collection titled “Action!”
To celebrate this accomplishment, the students and their families have been invited to a reception being held in honor of all of our young authors and artists at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater campus on Wednesday, May, 24th 2017 at 1:00 in the Young Auditorium.
All three created drawings related to this year’s “action” theme.
Vorpagel said her drawing is of a girl taking action to help another girl who fell. She wanted to draw people helping to convince others to help.
Schluneger’s drawing is related to the theme because the person depicted is depressed. “We should take action and stop bullying,” she wrote on her entry form.
Elliott’s piece is titled “Turn on the Lights for Another.” When hearing the word “action,” thinks of people doing good for others. The drawing represents someone helping another who is sad and in need of help.
