Education: It all starts with reading.
That's why in the Delavan-Darien School District, we make reading one of our top priorities at all grade levels.
The collaborative approach to reading within our district results in students receiving the maximum amount of time available to work on improving reading skills, no matter what level of reading they've attained.
Our teachers are trained to look for signs of knowledge within our students and to create interactions with students that move them constantly forward in their learning.
Listed below are the instructional approaches used in Delavan-Darien School District classrooms when it comes to reading. These models form the basis of balanced literacy and vary by the amount of support provided by the teacher. Our teachers understand the instructional purposes for each approach and plan their instruction to best support the needs of children in literacy learning.
