2013 GRADUATION INFORMATION
The 2013 DDHS Graduation is coming up soon. Graduation is:
6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6
DOORS OPEN: Doors open at 5 p.m. for guests who wish to arrive early.
If graduation is held indoors, seating will be limited. Each senior will receive six (6) tickets for the ceremony, with the opportunity to request additional tickets, if available.
If graduation is held outdoors at Borg Stadium, seating should be plentiful for all.
PRACTICE: Graduation practice is the morning of Thursday, June 6, in the Study Hall Room (specific start time TBD). All graduates are expected to attend graduation rehearsal. If a senior does not attend practice, they WILL NOT go through the ceremony. If you have questions, please contact Principal Mark Schmitt.
LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS: Local scholarship meetings are Tuesday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 3 (times TBD). Students must attend one of these meetings to get the scholarship information. The scholarship applications are due back to Student Services by the end of the school day on Thursday, April 11. Almost all of the local scholarships require community service. If you need your community service hours included with your local scholarship application, the completed community service forms must be turned in to Mrs. Pelnar in the main office by the end of the school day on Tuesday, April 9.
HONORS LIST: Seniors should check the honors/high honors list when it is posted outside Student Services on June 6 and report any errors or omissions to Mrs. Brown in Student Services as soon as possible.
SENIOR ARRIVAL: Before the ceremony, seniors must be in the Large Group Room by 6 p.m. for graduation.
Graduation gowns should be removed from the plastic bag prior to graduation day and hung or ironed to remove wrinkles. Be sure to use a low-temperature iron as hot irons have melted gowns in the past.
Women should wear a dress or skirt under the gradation gown. No tennis shoes.
Men should wear a white or light-colored shirt and long pants under the graduation gown. No shorts or tennis shoes.
The outside of the graduation gown must be free of all decorations except National Honors Society pins and sashes.
Students who do not follow the graduation dress code will not participate in the ceremony.
PHOTOS: Empire Studio will be taking photos as graduates receive their diplomas. Watch for proofs in the mail a week or two after graduation. Guests are welcome to take photos at the ceremony from their seats. Empire Studios also offers seniors and parents the chance to review photo "proofs" online. An email address must be supplied with photo ordering information.
FEES & FINES: All Fees and Fines should be paid in full by 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5. Any student who owes the district money will not participate in the graduation ceremony. The list of seniors who have unpaid fees or fines will be updated daily and available in the main office. Seniors should check regularly for any unpaid fees.
LIVE BROADCAST: The graduation ceremony will be broadcast live online on our website. A link will appear on the District's homepage: www.ddschools.org. Family and friends who are unable to attend the ceremony may still watch the livestream from a broadband internet connection.
VIDEO: Copies of the graduation video will be available on a DVD for students and parents (one per family). The free DVDs will available for pick up weekdays from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the School Administration Center.
INTERPRETERS: Individuals requesting a sign language interpreter for graduation should contact Mrs. Tracey Daniels, administrative assistant, no later than May 16 via phone at: 728-2642, Ext. 4402, or by email at email@example.com
Colleges may still need your official final transcript. Please stop by student services ASAP to take care of sending your college or university your official final transcript.
Community service forms must be turned in to Mrs. Pelnar in the main office by the end of the school day Friday, May 31, to have service hours recognized on your diploma and in your student records.
Locker clean-out is Friday, May 31. Avoid paying a $5 fee by cleaning out your locker on time.
The Senior Picnic is tentatively set for Monday, June 3. The times and location are TBD. Senior Slideshow is tentatively set place in the DDHS auditorium immediately following the picnic.
Seniors should not be in the building Monday, June 3, Tuesday, June 4, or Wednesday, June 5, unless they are taking care of unpaid fees or fines, or have other official school business.
