When it comes to technology, the world around us is changing quickly. At the Delavan-Darien School District, we try to keep up with latest advances by engaging students with new technology on a daily basis.
In 2010, the Delavan-Darien School District was awarded more than $520,000 in funds from a class-action lawsuit settlement. Those funds are being used to make major upgrades to classroom technology throughout our district.
By the start of the 2010-11 school year, the district’s five school buildings will have wireless internet connections and each teacher will have a wireless laptop to make learning mobile. The funds will also allow for several “mobile labs” where laptops on carts equipped with video projectors could be taken to more areas in our school buildings.
Additionally, the funds have helped pay for updates to the district’s library cataloging software, making locating and checking out books and library media more user friendly to students of all ages.
Other state technology grants have allowed for the acquisition of SMART Boards for all math classrooms at Phoenix Middle School and all fourth and fifth grade classrooms. We also have SMART Boards in several high school classrooms.
The district also uses many web-based resources and programs to teach students. Find links to various web pages used in our classrooms on our student resources pages.
