She enjoys teaching in this district, appreciating that the diversity of the Delavan and Darien communities is reflective of the society we are preparing our students to be effective members of.
Paepke received her undergraduate degree in English Literature and Language from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1995, adding her teaching license from the University of New Mexico in 1996. She earned her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University in 2007.
Paepke has been recognized as an outstanding educator from C.H.A.D.D. for her work with students with attention deficit disorder. Paepke knows that every student can succeed in school. Teachers must believe in their students, and the children need to believe in themselves and be active members of the classroom and school communities. Paepke believes teachers should develop a relationship with each student in order to best understand their individual needs and tailor their instruction to benefit each child. |

| English Language Learner Program | Laura E. Prado joined the district in 2008 after receiving undergraduate degrees in Spanish, English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education through UW-Whitewater. Born to undocumented immigrants in northeastern Wisconsin, her parents’ hard work has made Prado a proud Latina teacher, who has overcome many barriers that U.S Latino youth continue to face today. Prado became an educator to help minority students, in particular Latino students and parents, so that they feel better represented in schools.
Not only is Prado a teacher, but also a mediator between cultures in diverse communities. Prado understands her students and feels a connection with each because she has lived their stories, which is why she enjoys working in a district with a high percentage of Latino families. She is truly bilingual and bicultural. Prado enjoys spending time with her children, who are also a part of the district. Prado looks forward to seeing her children and students succeed and one day set examples of accomplishment. |

| Grade 4 | Michelle Turner joined the Turtle Creek team as a fourth grade teacher in 2003. She began her teaching career in 1974 as a fifth grade teacher in Eagle, Wis. She was a Gifted and Talented teacher in the Whitewater School District before being coming to Turtle Creek in 2003.
Turner earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with Art and Dance emphases. She has coached Odyssey of the Mind and Destination Imagination teams for 12 years. Turner has been inducted into the Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 2006-2007, and again in 2007-2008. Turner has also received an award from the Whitewater Optimist Club for her work with the Lakeview Student Council.
Turner looks at teaching as a calling and not a job, and finds the best part of her position is being with the people she loves…children. The Delavan-Darien School District has some very dedicated, loving teachers with whom she is proud to be associated. Her classroom is very child-driven, allowing for creativity, self-expression and teaching to the individual child’s interests and intellectual needs. Her goal is to help create life-long learners. |
